Climate Change Myth Busters

1. It isn’t too late to make a difference.

Putting off tackling climate change will make it more difficult and expensive to reduce carbon emissions.

2. You can make a difference.

Over 40% of carbon emissions come from individuals, so we can all make a difference.

3. No one can solve climate change alone.

We need to work together. It is everyone’s responsibility to cut carbon emissions.

4. Every reduction in carbon emissions makes a difference.

We need to set a positive example as individuals and as a nation to the rest of the world.

5. You don’t have to change your lifestyle.

Small simple changes can often make the biggest impact.

6. You don’t have to spend any money on cutting your carbon footprint.

Saving energy can actually save you money and there are government and local council schemes that can help with the cost of some things like insulation or the boiler scrappage scheme.

7. It doesn’t take too much time and effort.

You can simply turn the lights off when you leave a room or not leave the TV on standby overnight.

8. Eco-friendly or ‘green’ products are usually of the same quality or better as existing products.

9. Conservation and cleaner energy will produce more jobs and cheaper energy.

10. Waiting for new technology to be developed is not an alternative to reducing your carbon footprint.

You need to act now.
